Winter time

Estoy de vuelta de un doblete de gripe + virus gastro-algo. Recuperada y llena de energía para hacerle frente al invierno londinense (el primero desde que me mudé a esta ciudad/país/continente). No sé todavía cómo se siente decirle chau a los rayos de Febo a las cuatro de la tarde, pero imagino que será un buen tiempo para hibernar y crear.

De mis días de enfermucha salió  un puñado (bastante ecléctico) de títeres, a saber: una chica de estilo chino, un “trabajador” de la mafia, un habitante del bosque y un personaje de libro. Vamos a conocerlos:

I’m back from a double of flu + gastro-something virus. Recovered and full of energy to face the London winter (my first one since I moved from Argentina). I don’t know how it feels to say goodbye to the sunlight at 4pm yet, but I guess it will be a good time to hibernate and create.

From my illness days I came out with a (pretty eclectic!) bunch of new puppets (some of them adopted the same day I listed them on Etsy!), as follows: a Chinese-style girl, a mafia “worker”, a wood-dweller and a book character. Let’s meet them: 

Lili

Lili es una chica encantadora que ama lucir vestiditos chinos y dibujar pájaros. Dos detalles que pueden decir un montón acerca de una persona (o títere).

Lili is an adorable girl who loves to wear Chinese dresses and to draw birds. Two little details that can tell you a lot about a person (or a puppet).

Albertino

Puede ser que ya lo hayas imaginado, pero igual tengo que decírtelo: Albertino es de la mafia. Acostumbra hacer "trabajitos". Los demás títeres tiemblan cuando  entra en un restaurante de títeres o una oficina de títeres. Me gustaría decir que, muy en el fondo, él es un buen hombre. Pero no pondría las manos en el fuego por él. 

You might have imagined this already, but I have to tell you: Albertino is from the mafia. He is used to doing “little jobs”. The other puppets tremble when he comes into a puppet-restaurant or a puppet-office. I would like to say that, deep down, he is a good man. But I wouldn’t swear by it.

Wood-dweller

Ella es uno de los muchos seres que habitan el bosque. Tiene unas orejas largas y elegantes que usa para escuchar el viento, los pájaros y las canciones de Bjork. 

She is one of the many beings that live in the wood. She’s got elegant, long hairy ears that she uses to listen to the wind, the birds and Bjork’s songs.    

Margherita (Dolcevita)

Me inspiré en el libro Margherita Dolcevita, del genial grande grosísimo escritor italiano Stefanno Beni. Margherita is la chica más adorable, divertida, sensible y soñadora que te puedas imaginar. 

I was inspired by the wonderful Italian writer Stefanno Benni and his book Margherita Dolcevita. She is the most adorable, funny, sensitive dreamer girl you can imagine.

Rosalinda

Le dí una oportunidad a la Singer Florencia que me compré en Argentina y me puse a coser este vestidito para Rosalinda, el títere de dedo más romántico que haya existido nunca...

I gave the sewing machine I bought in Argentina a go and set about making this little dress for  Rosalinda, the most romantic finger-puppet ever... 

The autumn passenger

Ella es la pasajera del otoño, la que se pasa horas sentada en la estación con su maleta llena de hojas y una pequeña poesía intraducible (bueno, traducible pero horrible en español).

Abelardo the sailor

Todo el mundo sabe que los conejos son marineros extraordinarios. Aman el mar. Y Abelardo es un ejemplo perfecto de eso: ha demostrado con creces su destreza en el arte de la navegación.

Everybody knows that bunnies are great sailors. They love the sea. And Abelardo is a perfect example: he has proven skills in the art of navigation.

Lautaro

Lautaro va a ser el nombre de mi nuevo sobrinito (que ya está por nacer!). Es también el nombre de este pequeñito en un disfraz indescifrable. Más allá de lo que su cara sugiere, disfruta bastante de Halloween.

Lautaro will be the name of my new nephew (due in a few days!). It is also the name of this little boy in an indecipherable costume. Despite what his face suggests, he enjoys Halloween quite a lot. 

Clara

Ella es Clara, una mujer intrigante que ama el té, los grandes lagos y pasarse las tardes leyendo filosofía (Merleau-Ponty es su favorito). Clara es un títere de dedo, pero se siente realmente confortable descansando en un estante lleno de libros.

This is Clara, an intriguing woman who loves tea, big lakes and spending the afternoons reading philosophy (Merleau-Ponty is her favorite). She is a finger puppet, but she feels really comfortable resting on a full bookshelf.
